Words by Ginny Yttrup

WordsWords by Ginny Yttrup

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Words by Ginny Yttrup... Wow... For lack of better "words". I was really pleasantly surprised with this book. At first I thought it would be this deep heavy read, but it was nothing like that at all. Yes it did talk about abuse which is a serious topic, but the entire story captured me. I felt the character's pain, joy, anger and sorrow. I also know that some may steer away from this novel because it does talk about the redemptive work of Christ. I'll say this much, it's not in your face like some books. This is subtle yet gripping. I would definitely not only recommend this book to a friend, but re-read it again. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Save Me by Lisa Scottoline

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Save Me by Lisa Scottoline had me with the cover. Do you save your own child or the child who is bullying your child? What a dilemma for a parent to be in. This story pulled me in within the first 10 pages. It was one of those books where the action started right away - I love those books. It kept my attention throughout. When I thought the action would die down, there was another twist to the story. It definitely kept me guessing. Maybe not a re-read for me (I already know what happens), but I'd definitely recommend it to a friend.

Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Tuesdays with Morrie was a good book. Maybe had I read it in a different time, I probably would have gotten more out of it. Although interesting, I did have to read other books in between for to be uplifted. I found all the pondering about death to be a bit depressing.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed Friendship Bread by Darien Gee. Once I started reading I was transported to this small town of Avalon and I didn't want to leave. I love how the characters were developed. I enjoyed the friendship bonds between the women and the twist in each relationship. I truly felt as if I were one in the community. For an enjoyable read reflecting on relationships, friendship and family, I would definitely recommend this book.
